Not seen the penalty so its not about that but I really haven't warmed to him. Think he's 1 of the more dispensable of our first 11 that's before even taking into consideration his high value

Think he should be the 1 to be sacrificed if we need to raise funds.

Yeah I don't see the learning point either. Be very surprised if Onana is ever in another penalty shootout for the club, so we just have to swallow it I suppose.

I think what's disappointing for me is that we don't quite run with the momentum like some other clubs do and we don't take our opportunity to turn something good into something great.

If this was the other lot across the park - in a crisis, deducted points etc etc and they then started to turn it all around and won four games in a row, and they had Fulham at home in a cup quarter final, I'm like 99% they would channel the momentum and end up winning the trophy and turn what was a potentially disastrous season into a really good one.

We're always nearly but not quite, and don't get too happy or comfortable because there's a little kick in the nuts around the corner.

Definitely a kid in terms of experience at the top level though, despite being 22 he's not had many games in his career compared to some players several years younger.

Look, i get what your saying, giving him dogs abuse does nobody any good, and i don't want anybody dishing out abuse to him
I was steaming with rage last night when i posted that, pure frustration as a great chance to get to the semi passed because of his woeful penalty.
And i'm still really pissed off with it all

Sure, but that's not on one penalty.

We wouldn’t have got embarrassed.

I would have quite fancied us tbh. Especially with the second leg at Goodison.

Shame we miss out on what would’ve have potentially been one last great Goodison night.

Makes me fume at him more.

Shogun wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 12:25 am Still begs the question why a 22 year-old non-goalscorer who has only taken one penalty previously in his career (A missed one for Hoffenheim U19s) is taking the most important penalty of the lot.

In an age where everything is about data and statistics in football, it's baffling that something like that can be left to feeling. I know you can talk about training penalties but every manager and player in the world says that the situation in real play is completely different.

Garner, Tarkowski and Pickford should all be on penalties before him in that situation.

This.

Worst penalty I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen stumbled or fucked up or slipped ones, but this lad stepped up and did exactly what he intended. Absolute shite.

But should he have been taking it in the first place?

Anyway, calling out a shite penalty, fair enough. Some of the abuse though is ridiculous.
