Re: Summer Transfer Window Discussion
I'd bloody love it if we could sign a midfielder who can pass the ball to a high standard.

A slightly-above average standard would do for meBluedylan1 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 12:59 pm I'd bloody love it if we could sign a midfielder who can pass the ball to a high standard.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Discussion
Mctomminay is a good player. He'd be worth the 25m but not the contract we'd have to give him. We can't afford him and he wouldn't be value
Re: Summer Transfer Window Discussion
I think hes only on 60k ish at United and apparently agreed a deal with Galatasary of circa 89k a week, which would easily be in our scope777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 1:44 pm Mctomminay is a good player. Re: Summer Transfer Window Discussion
I assumed he was on much more than that. I'd probably have him at 25m and 90k a week. Though we probably don't have 25m.
Re: Summer Transfer Window Discussion
It's hard to know if McTomminay is any good... On one hand he seems to score a decent number of goals for club and country, and has lots of energy and is combative.
On the other everyone outside of a club he plays for seems to think he's shite.
I genuinely have no idea, but his qualities certainly speak of him being the type that would do well under a Dyche or Moyes type manager.
I'd probably be for it if the numbers added up. Swap Onana for McTomminay for half the transfer fee and same wages and it would make us a better team potentially.

Could be another Barry - a player you don’t fully appreciate until you watch them week in, week out.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 2:46 pm It's hard to know if McTomminay is any good... (Disclaimer: Not saying he is the same player as Barry or player or anything else, so piss off!)

Re: Summer Transfer Window Discussion
I'm pretty sure it would be wasted in our team, you don't need that player with Tarks pumping it longBluedylan1 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 12:59 pm I'd bloody love it if we could sign a midfielder who can pass the ball to a high standard.
Re: Summer Transfer Window Discussion
I'm not completely disagreeing, mostly agreeing, just not sure that Adebayo is really what we need in our most important position to get right.kramer wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 11:28 pm You think?
I would assume that his chances came from that close because most of his service came from crosses which is pretty much how we feed our strikers.
I think the argument against is because we shouldn’t be spending money on a somewhat limited player who can’t grow with the team if we get new ownership and try to move in a more ambitious direction.
I think that when DCL is on form his game is so much more than leap and barge, he can do deft passes and flicks and is a bit creative in bringing the other attacking players in. Adebayo is poor for assists and passing, he's a little bit more like Beto than Dom, as from what I've seen he's more dribbles and take ons.
Whilst we're probably not looking for another Dom clone, we need the nous, finesse and link up play that he has on the ball to play in others, especially our new signings.
I'm also not happy with not being able to provide an alternative. But something like a mix between Adebayo and Abraham and Dom would be good.
We do play somewhat of a similar direct style as Luton, but there's a reason they got relegated and we didn't, and some of it was our admittedly underperforming current main striker, with him performing we'd have been pretty sound.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Discussion
McTominay reminds me a lot of Henderson for the shite - not that they play him the same position just in terms of skill set. He’s not an out and out DM and not a AM, he’s a midfield general who stops the AM from working in the half spaces and plays the ball tidily, and gets a few goals. That kind of player only works well in a particular system with certain kinds of players. I can’t see it really working unless our wingers were top level. With what we have now I’d still think we’d need to sign a proper DM and we already have Gana despite his limits in passing ability. No ta

Like if you ordered Marouane Fellaini from Temu?Bornblue88 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 3:11 am McTominay reminds me a lot of Henderson for the shite - not that they play him the same position just in terms of skill set.
