Jesper Lindstrom
Re: Jesper Lindstrom
He’s probably lost it now but once upon a time, Doucoure was much better playing deeper. Was a decent enough passer, good at arriving late in the box, you know about the work rate.
Don’t necessarily see this as another Danjuma. Danjuma was a bit selfish and wasteful in attack in addition to not doing the work without the ball Dyche demands. He was always a weird fit and was never going to play regularly. It felt very much like a “we already know him, he’s available again, let’s get him” and not so much of an intentional choice for the team.
Lindstrøm seems to have more of the attributes that will actually get him on the pitch.
Big question here is who plays centrally if both he and Ndiaye are most comfortable there. This also increases the urgency of adding a more natural right winger like Gnonto. Also makes you wonder why a team with deficiencies at right back, centre mid, and centre forward is bothering to use so much of its budget on creative attacking players when there are suitable (albeit a bit awkward) options for those positions.

Re: Jesper Lindstrom
Does currently feel weird and it might be one we look back on and say who was driving this crazy train, was there too many cooks etc.
But have to just give them a bit of rope even just put of hope more than anything and judge at the end of the window I think.
As far as I am concerned we have no suitable right backs at the club at this moment. I would like that addressed badly. CM I would like addressed. Lb I would like addressed. Wingers I would like addressed.

Re: Jesper Lindstrom
Can’t help but wonder if we’ll see a tactical switch with all of these players who can play on the wing but are happier used more narrow.
Maybe some sort of five at the back with two CAMs?
Pickford
Coleman Tarks Branthwaite
Patterson. Mykolenko
Gana. Doucouré
Lindstrom. Ndiaye
DCL
Seems crazy now it’s written down but otherwise I don’t understand how we’re not going for a right back given he seems to not trust Patterson.
Surely can’t be going into a season with Coleman and Young as your preferred RB options.

Re: Jesper Lindstrom
I'll be shocked if we signed a RB mate. Coleman, Young and Godfrey are all Dyche favourites. Doubt they're even looking.brap2 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 2:23 pm Does currently feel weird and it might be one we look back on and say who was driving this crazy train, was there too many cooks etc.

All this is really interesting and I love the attributes he has, but I’d like to know does anyone know is he PL level?
Re: Jesper Lindstrom
I think people just aren't used to having depth so these signings seem a bit weird.
We essentially have brought in a couple of players who can play either wing or in the Doucs role, meaning we no longer have to flog McNeil and Doucoure to death, and have no way of playing if one or both is out injured or out of form.
Maybe neither is a natural winger but both can play there fairly comfortably and hopefully means we never see Young or Garner out there again.
Ideally we bring in Gnoto too for some real width, but if not it'll still mean we've a much more functional attacking set up than we had last season.

Re: Jesper Lindstrom
i like the look of this lad from the bits ive seen on youtube, i see people saying he is an attacking mid and transfermarket says he has played 118 times as attacking mid but he looks like a winger to me 95% of his highlights are on the wing
Re: Jesper Lindstrom
Depth is great but you should have a complete first team first.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 2:56 pm I think people just aren't used to having depth so these signings seem a bit weird.

Re: Jesper Lindstrom
But you can't address all the issues in one window.
We have Patterson for right back, time to give him his chance. Cover is Seamus and Young.
We do need a backup LB though.
We also need a CM (potentially Philips on loan).
We don't really need Gnoto given the 2 transfers we've done who can play there but it'd definitely help us if we had that level of pace in the team.
Realistically if we signed:
Ndaiye
Lindstrom (loan)
Philips (loan)
Harrison (loan)
Gnoto
And we've lost:
Godfrey
Gomes
Onana
Danjuma
Then we're stronger than we were last season.
Ideally I'd like us to bring in another 2-3 on top of that, and there's the all important DCL issue to resolve too... But you can only do so much when you're always on the brink of breaching PSR.
Re: Jesper Lindstrom
I'm interested now as to how we use him as I had him down as a RW. Can't see us using him centrally.
Re: Jesper Lindstrom
I'm interested in what the plan is for Jack Harrison now, given he spent all his time at RW for us but LW for Leeds.
Will be an even stranger loan if we also move for Gnonto.
Re: Jesper Lindstrom
Was thinking my self about Jack.
I did say if he ever came back I hope it's in the role as a squad player and not one of our starting wingers.
He isn't good enough for me to be starting games but as a squad option he's ideal.
If Gnonto comes in after Lindstrom I reckon those 2 make the right wing their own, let them compete there.
Jack can be the backup to McNeil on the left, which in turn, will be better all round as what ever time we do see of Jack Harrison we should at least see a BETTER version when he does come in as he operates better on the left.
