Future Captain Harrison Armstrong
Re: Future Captain Harrison Armstrong
No matter what happens, have no doubt that the club have pushed this to happen.
Re: Future Captain Harrison Armstrong
Exactly, all it needed was a rejection of the bid or probably even a fuck off before an actual bid came in. It's obviously something that they're ok with.

Disastrous own goal from the club, both from a football perspective and a fan buy-in perspective.
Might be one of the worst decisions we've ever made, if it goes ahead. At least with Rooney we needed the money to keep the club afloat. This is completely unnecessary and atrociously misjudged.

Forest is interesting. Did they make a speculative enquiry or did we decide to offer him around and think Forest would be the least unpalatable for us to swallow.
Re: Future Captain Harrison Armstrong
It feels like a bit of a watershed moment tbh in terms of our football operations under TFG. The fact they're entertaining this so easily shows reflect terribly on them, and also that they either don't understand or don't care about our support.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2026 8:55 pm Disastrous own goal from the club, both from a football perspective and a fan buy-in perspective.

At the end of the day the player doesn’t have to agree to it.
If he does want to stay.

I’ve got the lyrics to Yesterday going round my head on a loop now.
Fucking Everton, man.
They really are the pits aren’t they.

Imagine he’ll be getting pressured massively by his new agents who’ll want their slice of thick juicy pieblueToffee wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2026 9:14 pm At the end of the day the player doesn’t have to agree to it.

Re: Future Captain Harrison Armstrong
I'm trying to wrap my melon around any possible justification or line of thinking for it, even if I would never agree. And I won't ever agree. But like ''what could they be thinking?''.
I definitely don't think it's anything mad like they're taking money out of the club, or asset stripping. They've put loads of money in since they arrived, and we've recouped very little. Even their most ardent critics would accept that there's been no shortage of investment.
I would imagine they're looking at Chelsea, Newcastle, Villa etc and clubs like that selling young talent and because we don't have big revenues from the stadium still, they're thinking we need to do the same.
But that completely misses the point and ignores the specific context. Newcastle and Villa have been forced into selling players because they spent so much and flew too close to the sun. It wasn't a choice. Newcastle had to sell Elliot Anderson. We're not in that position. We could move Beto, Patterson, Iroegbunam on for more than £40m combined and barely miss any of them.
Chelsea have so many players that their fans couldn't possibly even get properly attached to any of them, even if they wanted to. People are in and out the door constantly. It's not even really a football club in many ways. It's an experiment.
With us, we have produced just one superb academy talent in years. Everybody who's watched him inside and outside the club thinks he's going to the very top. He's already an excellent Prem player at 19. And we're an intensely passionate fanbase who love nothing more than producing our own players and seeing them do well for us. We're not unique in that aspect obviously, lots of clubs love doing that, but we are probably more intense than the vast majority of fanbases and the betrayal will not be forgiven.
Somebody inside the club who is proper Everton needs to sit Kinnear/other decision makers down very quickly and say ''listen, you don't wanna do this. You think fans will get over it and move on if the team does well overall, but trust me they won't. And it could get quite unpleasant for some of you''. Because that's the reality. Not a threat obviously, but that's the reality.

Refresh my memory have we ever agreed a deal with a club and the player says no.
Re: Future Captain Harrison Armstrong
Honestly I'm absolutely furious. This is an absolute scandal and it's fucking despicable. Freidkins can fuck off out of this club right now.
I hope the fans let those fuckers know just how bad this is next Sunday even if Armstrong is still here.

Genuinely can't believe this now.
I've got to admit, even I underestimated them.
I actually didn't think it would legitimately end with him going. I mean he still might not but....
Christ. Can't keep up with all the threads, every one of them absolute doom.
