Am I missing something here, how’s he become so much better during pre season? I think Barry has scored two goals in preseason, a very dodgy lucky goal against……….. Dunfuckindee and a penalty, which he took with his stupid run up that missed when we played Sunderland in the cup.
I’d love to be wrong and he goes on and smashes it this season, but I very much doubt he will.

Edit….. just remembered he got one against the Barcodes too.

I think you're missing quite a lot.

Not really seeing anything that different in Barry in pre season.

He’s talking himself up. He’s deciding to run about a bit more, which wasn’t hard. He laid a few decent balls off the other day.

I’m hopeful of course but let’s see how he gets on against a different level of defender. We all want him to come good but we now need to see the goods.

He has 3 goals looked very good holding up the ball and sharp around the box

He has looked miles better plus his attitude is miles better.

The pass for the Armstrong miss showed me that his attitude has changed. Last season he would have ran and shot and hits the defender because he was desperate to score and be 'the man' and would sulk when it didn't go his way.

But the vision for the pass was excellent and unselfish. And he went straight to Armstrong after the miss to console him and get on with it. Which I also loved

I forgive him for last season 🫪 and I'm excited to see him improve this year.

I thought he was decent last season tbh.

He had the season I was totally expecting from him and I saw enough to think there was a really good player there.

Not having that, his absolute lack of application in and around the Arsenal fiasco was very poor - I didn’t expect that

My concern with Barry after last season was basically just application.

If he’s fitter, stronger, and working harder in matches, he’s going to be quality this time around.

Gave City the run around a few weeks after it and slotted two.

Was the derby sub performance for me.

I had been advocating for him to be the first 60’ CF all season. Came on in a huge match and you wouldn’t have even known he was there. Offered nothing in the fixture we care most about even though he was supposed to freshen things up.

I saw it posited somewhere that he was carrying a shoulder injury last season (or was playing through an incomplete recovery from a shoulder injury). If he’s sorted the fitness and is putting in the effort, he 100% has the chops to be a quality striker for us.

Hid all round play has been pretty good, he's worked hard off the ball and linked up well with those around him. We watched him score last season with virtually no service, this was the bit of his game that seemed lacking.

Well the service looks like it’ll be there, let’s hope he’s up for the battle with top class centre backs.
