I'm a bit confused by some of the comments. Loads of people are saying he's a good signing, but then also saying he'll be used off the bench. How can he be a good signing but not good enough to displace someone like Tim? That doesn't add up.

I was working on the assumption that we will be a
Signing more than one defensive midfielder.
We absolutely need somebody capable of being the sitting 6 for when Garner is injured as there's nobody else in the team that I trust to do it.
The worry though is that Moyes is going to play Norgaard and Garner together every game that they're fit and starve our young cadre of CMs of any development time. Both Norgaard and Garner are best used as the DM and neither have enough about them going forward to help us play between the lines.
There's a lot of doom and gloom around our transfer business, but thinking back to last summer, the USA tour, Moyes bemoaning a lack of players, and what we had available around the same time as now... I actually think we're a fair bit stronger.
I'm not saying it's ideal, just on reflection we were definitely worse off at this stage last summer than we are now.

That's how I see it as well.
I would want Garner behind KDH and Hackney as the main starting 3 midfielders. Norgaard could be used as a sub for some games, and he might start other games where we want to play a more solid midfield.
The worry, I agree, is that Moyes goes with solid over creative more often than not.

I think your worry is not just well founded but actually what will happen.
He will probably drop Norgaard for the home games when we will be a little more dominant on the ball but expect to see a Garner / Norgaard combo in 2/3 of games.

I reckon the only time he won’t play the pair of them is when either or both of them is injured or suspended

You missed some of the great through balls he played last season to create chances and goals ?
