Any idea what if any percentage of the profit we will owe Marseille?

Without Illi, our side is seriously weakened. We will need to go into the transfer market with some real intent if he is sold, and it will need to work. That why we will need a huge offer to consider selling. I can see +£80m given that we have a very strong bargaining position.

The whole right side would need upgrading, despite having Dibling, who just hasn’t worked out so far.

It might be that they don’t offer what we want and he stays another year.

I’ll miss him as he’s great to watch but based on last season we’re not going to miss his output that much and it should be possible to find someone who can contribute at least as much. I just hope we don’t drag it out then panic and blow 40 million on Grealish. If we can’t loan him then leave him be oh and buy a bloody right back for God’s sake!!

Right side - missing, presumed sold.

At least we have a solid, attacking left side to lean on…

This is the best kind of sale.

Player at his peak, going to a league where we’re unlikely to see much of him or be jealous about him reaching a new level, to a club that generally spends above market price to tempt players.

He’s been terrific to watch but this is a tremendous outcome for this signing.

Also a great story for him when you unpack it.

He was at Boreham Wood just seven years ago, now he’ll be rich beyond his wildest dreams.

Big opportunity for everyone.

He'll be raking it in.

And although a massive talent, as many have said already, his output isn't amazing and he hasn't got blistering pace. So we could do with the cash to reinvest in a squad with massive holes.

From 45k (more like 25k after tax) to 270k.
Can’t blame the lad for taking the plunge.

It'd be good for us all, I just hope we don't spend half of it on Delap!

£270k a week is £14m a year? I'd be all over that if I was Illi, fair play to him.

A 2 or 3 year stint sets him and his family up for life and at the end of the contract, he'd still be young enough to come back here and help fire us up the Championship.

Yeah, unless you’re backing yourself to be playing CL finals every season I’ve no issue with anyone making the most of their limited time playing professionally to make the kind of money that sets them and probably every important person they know up for life.

Especially as given his age it’d likely be the best contract he’ll get in his career.
