Chelsea giving out 8yr contracts to kids again. Thought that had been nipped in the bud?
Re: General Transfer Thread
There is no restriction on length of contract. The loophole that was closed was amortising the asset over the full length of contract if overb5 years. They can still offer 8, 9 10 year, even lifetime contracts if they wish, but they have to pay the full transfer fee within 5 years.Bob Sacamano wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2026 5:51 am Chelsea giving out 8yr contracts to kids again. Spurs outspending everyone at the moment if this sort of thing goes through.
Re: General Transfer Thread
Their transfer policy looks really sound this season, sell established players for massive fees and buy lots of under 21s with high potential and ability to contribute now, at least some of them anyway.
Shows how buying and selling well then allows you to spend on the kind of young talent we want here really, but can't afford the fees because we don't have many players we can sell for profit, let alone £40m-£50m profit.
