He could have split up the dire Keane/Tarkowski partnership by playing a certain Irish man there who he's been absolute flogging at RB.
David Moyes

Re: David Moyes
Branthwaite started the season injured and we should have been prepared to play without him considering his injury record.
But we decided to give Michael Keane thirty plus games instead.

Re: David Moyes
I was responding to the point Grealish was the only player who missed out through injury. He wasn’t.
Re: David Moyes
Yes honestly totally forgot about Branthwaite.
Still suspect our injuries were no worse than any other club.

We do have another decent centre half. The stats when he played there back it up.Sir Stealth wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2026 9:09 pm Branthwaite is key and he missed almost the entire season. He’s 10 times the player any of our other defenders are
Re: David Moyes
If you are ambitious and a risk taker, then you go out and get either Iraola or Glasner this summer and bin Moyes. You pay the money and get an almost certain outcome that either one of these would work well.
So disappointed with the end of this season. It’s about as bad as it could have been after the Chelsea game, and I didn’t see it coming. I don’t think Moyes did either.
The last 2 games especially have been atrocious. Relegation level performances and utterly unacceptable given what was on the line for us and the league.
I don’t know where we go from here but it’s a massive concern and takes all of the shine away from what was due to be a half decent season.
There is a huge amount of work to do in the summer, and for the first time, I don’t know whether the man in charge should be Moyes (although I strongly suspect it will be).

Re: David Moyes
Our collapse in the final couple of months has meant we have basically done just as well as last season. It’s find of been a failure.
Moyes has to take responsibility, it is quite worrying and just concerned this will continue into next season especially if we don’t sort our shit together in the summer transfer market

Re: David Moyes
Moyes should blame his own recruitment before blaming refs decisions.
40,5M pounds on a guy he gave 4 mins in his debut. 9 minutes in the next before giving him the first half against Palace for then subbing him at half time as we turned that match around. He then got 4 minutes against City before he had to sit on the bench and not gain any more minutes for the next 4 mathces.
In total Tyler Dibling has been allowed to play a total of 350 minutes - that is less than 4 football matches. 5 times he has been allowed to play more than 15 minutes. He has been allowed to start 4 matches as in two of them he was subbed off at half time - indirectly blamed for the poor performance of the team.(Home to Palace and Brentford). In 2026 he has been an unused sub for 15 of 19 matches with the highlight of the ONE minute he was allowed against Burnley at home when we leaded by 2 goals. His market value halfed in the process.
Thats what piss poor Mr Moyes. That is really piss poor. Add to that the 30M you spent on Thierno "I dont have a clue" Barry and we can safely say you have thrown 70M out of the window. For that amount you could have bought five Junior Kroupis or two and half Rayans.
Problem is Mr Moyes that of all your arrivals - KDH was the only one you had faith in.

Re: David Moyes
Absolutely rotten end to the season and he has to carry the can for that. Getting us into a position to be expecting European qualification does carry weight, however.
I'm undecided on what to want (if Iraola isn't an option because I'd 100% do that). Need some time away from Everton to think rationally and process the capitulation.

There's a big chunk of thought around timing that's necessary IMO.
Last season was very poor until a bounce at the end of the season with manager change, this season was almost the opposite.
There will always be natural variation, 'VAR results' fixture difficulty and general poor runs that any team experience.
As to whether our season constitutes anything outside the norm, consider that team everyone seems to look to, Bournemouth, who failed to win in 11 consecutive games 6 losses and 5 draws. 5pts from a potential 33. Nothing in November through to their second match in January. Iraola out?
An objectively, and considerably worse run than our 7 games without a win.
But because we had a sniff of Europe at the time, because we'd done so well so early, expectations shift, but maybe they shift too far.
We were safe from relegation the earliest we've been in a long time. No one seems to remember that bit quite so much, because hey, we're definitely contenders at the top end again.
Re: David Moyes
I’m a huge Moyes fan. Always have been. But the way the season fizzled out. Looked like we’d ran out of gas and ideas. Lack of changing things up. Sticking with the same trusted players in or out of position regardless of performance. Very disappointing
Re: David Moyes
I know we can’t win every game but selecting the same 11 constantly after defeats is just too stubborn and I don’t like it. I think I’m ready to flip the switch and try someone and something adventurous.
Huge risk as we know Moyes has stabilised us but I feel it’s time now.

Re: David Moyes
He actually did change a couple of personnel but then played them out of position which made us unbalanced. He didn’t try to change things tactically. Really quite concerning the way he handled that run of defeatsMIG wrote: ↑Mon May 25, 2026 6:33 am I know we can’t win every game but selecting the same 11 constantly after defeats is just too stubborn and I don’t like it. Re: David Moyes
Its not just the results, we must be one of the slowest teams in terms of players but also in how we move the ball. Pass, control, stand still, touch touch, stand still again, pass, repeat. Fucking awful.
Re: David Moyes
Agreed.
My son is a Bournemouth fan and watches Everton games with me out of love haha but he says we are one of the most boring and frustrating teams to watch.
I know we all know that already but when you hear it like that it hits different cause you always assume you judge your own team too harshly.
