Re: Today's Football 2025-26
Freiburg aren't even in this at the moment. Did take two great finishes to be fair though to concede, but they don't seem to be troubling Villa's defence at all so far. One more for Villa and it's likely done done.
Re: Today's Football 2025-26
Need a manager to take the odd risk though. No idea how he won it with West Ham
Be cool or be cast out.

So if Villa get beat at City and the shite beat Brentford then Brighton or Bournemouth are getting champions league in 6th. Brilliant. Even better the way we've bottled the season.

They havn't even played the game yet and they're threating legal action if they lose.
Fuck off you pathetic tossers
Re: Today's Football 2025-26
This era of football just feels weird. Like it's been so difficult to win stuff but now they've stopped teams from dropping down into competitions and made up a new tournament, then it's resulted in English teams being quite overpowered and being clear favourites in these competitions.
West Ham, Tottenham, Palace (probably) and Aston Villa all European champions of some sort in the space of 3 years.
I guess it's good that teams can win again but it feels like it's so easy that it matters less than it should do.

Re: Today's Football 2025-26
Honestly this is an outcome I really don't want as a.) it's annoying given how we should've put ourselves in contention for what is a fairly rare opportunity b.) it's really not good from an Everton POV if a Bournemouth or Brighton become even stronger as that's another league place we get pushed down so even less chance for us to get into Europe down the line.
Re: Today's Football 2025-26
Have we got to a point now where difficulty to win for English teams goes:
Champions League
Premier League
FA Cup
League Cup
Europa League
Conference League
?

Re: Today's Football 2025-26
Yeah, it's so weird really. The Europa League/Conference League feel like completely different competitions at the moment.
Maybe we're doing a disservice to the likes of Villa but it does feel like UEFA have kinda broken these tournaments with these changes. If Forest hadn't been drawn against Villa in the semi finals, chances are it could have been another all English final. It did always seem daft for CL dropouts to go to the EL, but maybe the truth the CL should be smaller and they should just be in the EL from the get go. That way they're not CL fodder, and seemingly the teams below them don't seem at the level required and are making some of these games one way traffic.
Re: Today's Football 2025-26
Feels weird that the prize for winning a domestic cup is a place in a theoretically easier competition where you can win a CL place.

Southampton lose their appeal, not super surprising.
Can of worms too with their own players potentially suing too.
