Re: Raul Jiménez
At 35 no way, there has to be better in their late 20’s out there, also we have Beto as a back up to a new starting striker.

Re: Raul Jiménez
Suits how Moyes wants a striker to play, 9 goals in the league this season.
Could Moyes maybe see him as a stop gap and mentor to Barry, teach him how a target man should play?
Got to be honest and say I could maybe get behind it for those reasons.

Re: Raul Jiménez
Instead of converting Barry into a target man just exploit his finishing skills. If we also need a target man have the scouting team get their fingers out.
Jimenez for fuck's sake!

Re: Raul Jiménez
The one area of his game that Barry needs to work on is being a target man, as he's absolutely shit at it.MayorFarnham wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2026 3:32 pm Instead of converting Barry into a target man just exploit his finishing skills. His finishing isn't in doubt, but unless you're Man City you can't play a striker who does nothing but score.
Develop Barry's ability to compete with CBs and you end up with a pretty great all round striker.

Re: Raul Jiménez
Barry is going to learn the most from experience playing against PL defenders, sitting him on the bench for Jimenez only devalues Barry for me.
Would’ve had him no question a few years ago, but now it’s not for me.
Re: Raul Jiménez
Barry won't and shouldn't be out starting striker either way next season. Probably better for him to spend only one year behind a first choice than if we brought someone in who would potentially take that place for multiple years.blueToffee wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2026 5:12 pm Barry is going to learn the most from experience playing against PL defenders, sitting him on the bench for Jimenez only devalues Barry for me.

Re: Raul Jiménez
I could see Jiminez as a 3rd striker behind Barry and AN other, when we sell Beto. Playing maybe 10-15 times in the season, including sub appearances, chipping in with a few goals and giving us important cover if one of the main strikers gets injured.
Other than that very specific brief, I don't see any value to it.

Re: Raul Jiménez
I wonder who the Brentford scouting team are looking at for attacking options in the summer, especially if Igor Thiago is sold.
Maybe Everton can learn from them.
