Of course he has. He plays at a higher level week in week out in the Premier League!

Been some rise for him this season.

I think even fans of his wouldn’t have expected this.

He’s going to the World Cup, and I think there might even be a chance that he gets himself in the team.

Think overall he did well, very reminiscent really of his games for us. Bit too safe at times but also picked out some good passes too, and positionally he was exceptional with some good tackles thrown in to win the ball.

When Wharton came on he looked much 'busier' but I'd argue played less accurate passes. Garner whilst a bit safe actually regularly played 5 yard passes forwards between the lines which were far more effective than the sideways passes a lot of players reverted to.

Wharton was definitely more ambitious in his play but also turned over possession a few times.

I'd love to see Garner get a game with the proper England team rather than this B team we put out. Him sitting with Rice as the 8 rather than Henderson sitting and Garner as the 8 I think would help unlock him more.

Garner is going to the World Cup and can see him as backup to Anderson and Rice. He is such a good option to have as a squad player.

It was a really solid debut and showed some really good qualities in the first 20 minutes. Great set piece delivery, accurate passing, good movement off the ball, strong tackling and all round good energy.

That’s a surprise, BBC Manchester gave Maguire and Rashford 7s and everyone else 5 or 6…

Delighted for him, can only be good for us if he's getting a big confidence boost from all this!

He looks so confident in everything he does. He has matured massively over the last 12-18 months and looks ready for bigger things with us, hopefully in Europe and challenging for trophies.

Between Pickford, Branthwaite, JOB, N’Diaye, KDH and Garner, we have a solid foundation to really build on. I hope in future transfer windows we can capitalise on that to bring in similar characters with quality.

Add Grealish, 2FB’s and a striker to that and we should be a match for anyone.

Yeah I thought he was a good player but I was way off about how good he can be. Love being proved wrong thought he was a Tom Davies level he's boss

What’s with this “player” of the match? What happened to “man” when it’s the men’s game?

Just makes it easier to apply across the game, don't think it's particularly deep
