Thierno Barry
Re: Thierno Barry
Re: Thierno Barry
Would have been quite happy with us moving him on even without this incident. Nothing has changed.
Re: Thierno Barry
I think it's interesting that Barry's mates get battered by our fans and the overriding response seems to be get rid of him, rather than banning the supporters who think it's ok to twat people.
I appreciate some already held the view of him not being good enough, so if you already wanted rid then fair enough, just annoys me that people's go to response over this incident is less about the thugs who committed a crime than it is about Barry possibly giving tickets to his mates (which he shouldn't have done, but also it's still no excuse for what happened).

If the idiots who went in the away end were a few random lads it would have been seen as a typical reaction to stupid behaviour, one we have seen thousands of times before and will no doubt see again.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2026 10:33 am I think it's interesting that Barry's mates get battered by our fans and the overriding response seems to be get rid of him, rather than banning the supporters who think it's ok to twat people.

The incident is compounded by the error of judgement by one of our players to enable it to happen as well as an unwise social media post.
It's difficult to have any sympathy with either him or his mates in this situation.

We’ve seen the scenes from the weekend a thousand times over?Bumble wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2026 10:44 am If the idiots who went in the away end were a few random lads it would have been seen as a typical reaction to stupid behaviour, one we have seen thousands of times before and will no doubt see again.

Fans attacking relatives of their own player?
Re: Thierno Barry
We should be asking the question of why, if they were relatives of our own player who supplied them with the tickets, weren't they supporting the team he was playing for?
They were sat amongst Everton fans.

I find the reaction to be mad myself.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2026 10:33 am I think it's interesting that Barry's mates get battered by our fans and the overriding response seems to be get rid of him, rather than banning the supporters who think it's ok to twat people.

Even madder is it seems to be the majority of the fanbase.
Re: Thierno Barry
No-one got seriously hurt. A few bruises and damaged egos for trying to take liberties with a group of men who won't put up with it.
Everyone learns a lesson. Put it down to experience and everyone hopefully acts a bit more mature in the future.

I’m also keen on getting rid of moralising mopes who think not beating people up is some kind of grand moral positionAjaxAndy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2026 10:33 am I think it's interesting that Barry's mates get battered by our fans and the overriding response seems to be get rid of him, rather than banning the supporters who think it's ok to twat people.

Re: Thierno Barry
I wonder if people would feel differently if he had bagged 15+ PL goals this season and looked like our future number 9?
Re: Thierno Barry
Yep! Can't say I've ever wanted to batter someone at a footy match, and if an opposition fan was in the end near me and maybe not being as discreet as they should be I'd not think 'time for your face to become acquainted with my fist'.
I'd accept them getting some shit from the fans around them, but physical assault is far from an acceptable response.
Not sure why but some people seem to think the usual laws of the land, and general acceptable behaviour are optional just because it's at a football match.
Would people be ok if instead of punching them they'd racially abused them instead, or is it just common assault that's fair game?
Re: Thierno Barry
What are you even on about?
Are you saying I shouldn't be complaining about people physically battering someone?
Re: Thierno Barry
Personally I myself would even be careful in an Everton away end because it’s rough and ready and that’s just a fact of life, when it isn’t we’ll be poorer for it.
Segregation is enforced for good reason. Obviously nobody should get their heads punched in at the football I think we can agree that goes without saying?
