I felt it was the players more than anything last night, Moyes doesn't help but what can he do when they miss sitters or don't play to their potential or do daft stuff.
He does make himself difficult to defend sometimes but we should have been out of sight before they scored.
They did to us what we did to Fulham.
David Moyes
Re: David Moyes
Players shat the bed, we could and should have been 2-0 up, we missed soooo many chances. If we get a 2nd I'm pretty confident we get a 3rd and everyone is happy because Moyes set us up better and we're sitting in 5th.Audrey Horne wrote: ↑Wed Feb 11, 2026 9:48 am Please can the lads who really like him explain last night?
Not being snarky at all but previously people like @Bluedylan1 have made me not feel so frustrated with him by giving good explanations of his decisions.
Could do with some nuance before I finish my Moyes out duvet.
I understand the frustration of the subs, think he got that completely wrong and didn't react well, so definitely deserves criticism for that, but that's not the reason we lost.
I think everyone agrees JOB and Gana shouldn't be starting matches, or certainly the latter not at RB, but regardless of that the system was plenty good enough for a routine and comfortable victory.
As a manager you can't legislate for people missing sitters and then shitting the bed as a result of that.
Next season with the same manager, 2 new full backs and a striker who can be relied upon and we're a good team... If the same things continue to happen then it's time for the bed sheets, but I personally don't blame Moyes for last night.

Re: David Moyes
I don’t think having watched it back Barry’s first chance is a sitter it’s knee high coming at him quickly second one he should be burying still can’t get away from the playing Jake at rb though it’s really negating us especially at home
Re: David Moyes
Sitter for me.
The way garner hits it makes me think this was pre planned and he should be setting his body better to put it away.

Re: David Moyes
Think we need a convo about how bad we are at the back and how open we are through the middle. We are LEAKING.
Ready to admit that Gana Gueye despite being twice the player James Garner is in his wildest dreams, might be approaching tome to sit out to benefit the balance.

Re: David Moyes
There’s obviously recruitment issues. Two competent full backs and a prem standard centre forward and we win easily as well as a load more other points this season. I think this highlights Moyes problems. When the recruitment was good think last few years of first spell we had a good period of consistency. He needs perfect solutions though and can’t get creative to fix problems in the squad by other means. Garner at right back is so obvious, it’s a huge upgrade and one area we are well stacked is midfield, but he won’t change it. Reminds me a bit of England has to shoehorn certain players in rather than create the right balance of the team

Re: David Moyes
Im not sure i really like him but for me I think ultimately it boils down to our results being relatively good. I can justify o brien playing right back when patterson is the other option. I can justify him bringing beto on when its for barry.Audrey Horne wrote: ↑Wed Feb 11, 2026 9:48 am Please can the lads who really like him explain last night?

I dont like everything he does but I imagine that would be the same whoever was manager. Also I think a lot of the recruitment which wasn't particularly good is probably not the names he wanted
The other issue for me is the progressive choices in the premier league arent particularly outperforming him (and despite that possibly arent managers we could attract anyway)

Re: David Moyes
Maybe their coach would have insisted on the Brazilian who looked very good last night. Not having its moyes fault dibling isnt bedded in. Hes been crap. The blame lies with whoever decided we should sign himKerryblueboy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 11, 2026 9:53 am They weren’t great but it’s their set up and recruitment that’s much better than ours like I said in another thread their coach would have dibling bedded in doing well by now moyes just leaves him out because he has always had favourites in the squad Rohl alcaraz as well can’t get a game

And we spent months trying to get him, it wasn't some last minute panic buy.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Wed Feb 11, 2026 2:07 pm Maybe their coach would have insisted on the Brazilian who looked very good last night. The recruitment has at least in the short term been awful.Lazarou II wrote: ↑Wed Feb 11, 2026 2:10 pm And we spent months trying to get him, it wasn't some last minute panic buy.
Needed starting full backs, a fast winger and a starting striker. We got none of it. I dont believe moyes wanted any of them other than KDH and to different degrees hes probably been proven right on all of them
Weve already got George on loan to play instead of dibling. We are talking about needing a striker to play instead of barry
We are already trying to replace the signings we made less than a year ago.

We didnt take our chances to kill the game and they took advantage. Iraola said they deserved to get nothing from the game in his post-match. I know I keep hammering this point but it's extremely fine margins in the Prem between 12/13 teams and weird as it sounds it was very fine margins between a 3-0 win and a 1-2 defeat.
I think the home record is becoming a bit of a mental block that we need to get over. Away from home the players dont look panicked, even if we concede first because we have a repository of confidence knowing that we can manage those games and overturn deficits and shut up shop when needed.
At the new gaffe it still feels very precarious even when we're ahead and dominating like last night. The fans are desperate for that 2 goal lead so that we can breathe and it looks like the players feel the same given the way we're snatching at chances. I thought getting the first goal at home would help us overcome that but then we had a 10 minute meltdown and everything changed.
Wasn't too keen on the subs from Moyes last night, so that could be improved but the game should've been out of sight. I think ultimately it's a psychological issue more than a tactical one.
