Thierno Barry
Re: Thierno Barry
He hasn't.
His social media manager rearranged everything into chapters - there's still Everton stuff there

Re: Thierno Barry
Agree on the environment, it's tough because we're not at a level yet where we can play without expectations for everyone on the pitch. As we've seen over recent seasons it's been tight for us at the bottom and every point has mattered so carrying players is tough if they're not quite ready. Hopefully if we can get to a more stable place in the league though then we get to have more leeway to give these sort of players more time.
I don't necessarily agree on the fanbase, at least if you ignore the social media crowd. James Vaughan, Rooney, even Anichebe to an extent had support to name a few form Moyes' first stint. I think fans want to believe and want to see players come through, but with players like Vaughan and Anichebe I think it was clear what they were giving the team even if the end product wasn't always there with them either. In that respect, it's up to Barry to make the most of some of the minutes he's given too even if he's not amongst the goals.

Thierno Barry
This is the issue when the window is open a lot of fans screaming for players of the “right profile” rather than experience or prem proven . As I said all summer you need a blend of youth and experience, especially in key positions. If he we an experienced (decent) striker we blood this guy in slowly and build his confidence. Problem is he comes in and has to be the main man with DCL gone and Beto shit.TheRam wrote:Club doesn’t create the right environment for young players, fanbase doesn’t have the patience.
Always had my worries with us signing yet another raw, young striker and I have little hope in us ever seeing the best of him.

Re: Thierno Barry
Right age. Right price. Right ability. Right mentality. Right position. Rare a club in our position is gonna tick all them so always a trade off. Think Moyes tactic of mixing it up is about right. And it’s it not Barry’s fault he’s young or Betos that his ability doesn’t match his heart. I actually think Barry has looked very smart for his age. I like how he presses doing angled runs. Both need a couple of goals and we’ll be goodToshyboy wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 4:53 pm This is the issue when the window is open a lot of fans screaming for players of the “right profile” rather than experience or prem proven . Re: Thierno Barry
Would he? Hes second choice to a first choice as bad as beto. It just wouldn't matter as much if our first choice was better. He'd still be awful though

Re: Thierno Barry
I think Moyes needs to realise that, stop using him as a target man, which despite his height, he isn't physically built for that. Change the approach, change the player? Changing the manager's mind... that's the problemKerryblueboy wrote: ↑Fri Oct 03, 2025 6:57 am Love the way our fans turn on a player after a couple of games may I remind you above that you wrote off o Brien last year because dyche wouldn’t play him Barry needs minutes he will score goals but needs proper service

Re: Thierno Barry
The flip side is the crazies shouting for the likes of dobbin, simms, Dixon. Even o brien hes maybe proved to be worth about what we paid. We don't turn on them. We watch them and they are a bit shitKerryblueboy wrote: ↑Fri Oct 03, 2025 6:57 am Love the way our fans turn on a player after a couple of games may I remind you above that you wrote off o Brien last year because dyche wouldn’t play him Barry needs minutes he will score goals but needs proper service
Barry has been awful. So bad infact that beto at his very worst is still our starting striker.
Re: Thierno Barry
I honestly don't think he's been awful. He's looked like a young player who needs to adapt and develop...what did we think that would look like?

Re: Thierno Barry
For me it's that he doesn't compete. It was such a low bar with beto on Monday and barry came on a barely touched it. Hes better than beto at lots of things but what's the point if he can't even get close to the ball. We've put up with worse players I'd just like more effort from him
Re: Thierno Barry
Just get Grealish in the 10 and playing him in, for all my criticism of his lack of willingness to compete physically with defenders his movement off the ball looks really good.
Grealish on the wing for us is the equivalent of Forest playing MGW out wide. They don't for a reason, and as neither of our strikers like playing with their back to goal it makes sense to put our most creative passer as close to the striker as possible.
