Tyrique George
Re: Tyrique George
Be happy with this.
He's looked promising and is at a good age to get better.
Great understudy to Grealish too.
Providing Moyes isn't here long term and we get a more modern, forward thinking coach in then him and Dibling are two promising future wingers for us.

Re: Tyrique George
Thats two deals (admittedly neither are through the door yet) where we've been good negotiators and not just given the selling club what they want. Maybe the doom mongerers went a little early? Still plenty of work to do.
Re: Tyrique George
I don't see myself as a doom monger, or others, just different perspectives.
The reality is we're negotiating a deal for an exciting winger that the manager chose not to use last season and a 24 year old championship player. The same championship player that last season Ipswich agreed to pay 16m upfront with the potential to rise to 20, he's now only got 1 year left on his contract and we've agreed to pay more initially and in total - It's hardly earth shattering negotiating power or deals that move the dial.
I think they are both good additions and happy to get them in, especially George, but as you alluded there is still plenty to do and I'm waiting to see what that looks like

Re: Tyrique George
I don't understand this deal at all tbh.
We all know Moyes won't start him and we currently have only two wingers (Ndiaye & McNeil) at the club that Moyes trusts to start games and McNeil might still be sold. Unless we've got a lot more to spend than I thought it makes no sense to spend £15m on George when we need a senior "ready now" right back and right wing as a bigger priority

These quality young players makes me suspicious as to what will happen with Moyes

Re: Tyrique George
That’s a fairly doom mongerish response, you’d think a just turned 24 year old was nearing retirement the way you keep banging on about his age, glad you at least agree that in George we are signing an exiting new winger.Raptor wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2026 8:58 am I don't see myself as a doom monger, or others, just different perspectives.

Re: Tyrique George
Looks a decent play but I’d be very surprised if he ever hits decent numbers for us.
Re: Tyrique George
Can’t fault the club for this type of business.
I’ve been saying we should buy the best youngsters from the Championship and all the quality castoffs from the biggest academies in England for years.
I think those are the best markets for a club like ours to shop in. Not terribly dissimilar to how Villa built their squad.
Also insulates us a bit if squad composition rules change, either for European competitions or in the PL.

Re: Tyrique George
All feels a bit Fulham at the moment.
Not sure we’re moving the needle in any way.
Good to see us acting quick though but I think that midfield looks, very weak.

Re: Tyrique George
Its definitely a midifield that looks like it'd have its dinner money robbed on the regular.
