Which 2 are the slow 1s? Dibling grealish Ndiaye mcneii? Why would we sign more slow 1s before we address the chronic lack of pace. We cant just keep adding players that dont directly address our problems because hopefully we'll sign some that do
Well, we're talking about Grealish, so he's one and Ndiaye is the other.
McNeil won't be here so there's only a kid that obviously needs time to develop.
As you included the two I was talking about then, in your scenario, the only player coming in would be a pacy one

Why would we commit to our biggest wages for a player that doesnt directly solve our problem. We are desperate for pace and we signed grealish and dibling for our second biggest fee ever and our current biggest wages. We need to just concentrate on solving the problems we actually have.

Two rapid fullbacks sorts out two slow wingers. Chuck in a pacy forward and BINGO(ALS)!
Moyes talking about the need for height to combat set pieces makes me worry we won't see pacy full backs, but 6 foot somethings that are defensively sound above all else.

Oh and Thomas Soucek.
I would say it is just shit defending generally, other teams can do it without a BFG at fullback.
Pickford looks all at sea on corners because the defenders are too concerned with pushing shoving pulling shirts etc than
A) marking their man/space
B) if zonal protecting their zone
C) attacking the ball
D) protecting the keeper
E) actual defending….

Lewis hall just dropped for Dan burn
Liveamento always injured. If you consider Newcastle as playing two flying full backs then you could say that’s why they’re down in 14th.
Robinson been rubbish this season
Rico Henry always injured
Timber a centre half turned full back
White a centre half turned full backs
Now go name me the amount of centre mids or centre halves who are playing at full back.
Or the full backs who are asked to either sit in the defence to make a back three, or go into the midfield.
I think that just brings further in to question signing Grealish then tbh, if the game has moved away from full backs in the traditional sense (which I semi agree with), then you can't be buying a slow wide player when you have no pace in a team.
Although I still think Antonee Robinson is a great example of a flying full back who overlaps, especially if you have an RB who can slot in to make a back 3 when you're in possession. Lewis-Potter is another who is an extremely attacking left back, although Man UTD massively exploited the space he left in behind the other night.
Probably really need a pacy attacking LB and a more defensive RB who can still get forward when required. Allows us to stay defensively solid whilst giving Grealish the overlapping full back he needs.
Also just to add to my post above, there's multiple ways to set up a team.... You'll probably find the inverted full backs and midfielders playing there etc is more the domain of the top teams where every player is an elite baller.
We aren't that, so you have to take the pieces and assemble them to be a functional unit. We aren't a team who will either be able to afford a midfielder who can play as an inverted fullback, not do we have the rest of the players required to play such a system.
We just need joined up thinking this summer, be that Grealish and a rapid overlapping LB, or instead get a rapid wide player and a full back that accommodates them by being defensively solid whilst still offering some threat on the overlap.
Think there's a weird obsession with pace. You only need one pace player to offer something different, if the rest of the squad are good footballers it's movement into space that makes the difference.
