I've tried to look at it from different angles to try and understand how he intended it to come across that wasnt as abject negative as we're all reading it, but theres simply no way around it.

Hes not been misquoted, or taken out of context, he as the figurehead of the club has decided that maybe if we're lucky we can try and emulate Brentford.

He should have been gone on the first day after the season ended. Get him gone and get someone in before pre-season starts. Don't fuck up the appointment and let's ride the wave of excitement into the new season. If we don't its just going to get toxic again very very quickly.

What is the difference between this statement and Dyche telling TFG that he has taken the team as far as he can?

I haven't even bothered renewing my membership, partly as it's a rip off, partly it's not an enjoyable day travelling that far only to watch the away team try to play football and win the game
I’m getting to an age when, after busting a gut all week in an increasingly difficult job, I don’t really want to be getting up at 5am to make the trek for only the possibility of some joy. Add in getting home at 10pm then I’m sure I can find something more enjoyable closer to home and cheaper

I'm more and more of the view that TFG see us as a good business opportunity, that's it. Moshiri was desperate to sell, they got a good deal for a team in the most lucrative league. They have little interest in progression, it's about stabilisation, then they will look to flip for a decent profit - Moyes ticks every box, they won't look to rock the ship

Honestly if I had to travel the distance some of you lot do for the match then I'd make about 2 matches a season at most under the current guise of the club.

It's early days but I have no motivation for next season whatsoever. You can fume about quotes like the above but it's not like it's a surprise to read them coming from Moyes. No point painting Moyes as the boogeyman either because this is who he has always been. We had a good period under him where most of the time we were the 5th or 6th best team in the country for most of a decade and we made 1 final. The self-imposed ceiling has always been there with him.

We could well compete for Europe again next season, but you just don't feel like we're ever going to seize the opportunities or make the most of the players we have under him.

This is Moyes' last season (contract-wise) with us. You want to hear him being punchy. We're going to go for it. We're going to win a trophy. Instead you have him aspiring us to be Brentford a week after our star player says he wants to be playing Champions League.

That Palace game has that feeling of becoming toxic very quickly.

Worse still, the absentee owners allowing him to get away with the recent responses (post Spurs and this).

Disgusting.

I don't need my expectations tempered by dour Davey, I can do that all by myself.

What a boring uninspiring old duffer.

I definitely think you could say what he's saying in a different way, and not piss people off and alienate them.

He's basically saying ''we can't compete with Champions League clubs at the moment, but there's no reason we can't get in the Europa League/Conference League qualification spots''.

I think most of us agree with that sentiment and are fine with that.

But when you sell that idea as ''let's aspire to be like Brentford'', you lose everyone.

Unfortunately, we live in a world where the style is as important as the substance, Davey. You should have learned that lesson by now.

The fixtures came out yesterday, and i don't think i've ever been less arsed.
The idea of more of the same as last season fills me with dread.
At the moment there feels like nothing to look forward to with him in charge.
The end of last season was a disgrace culminating in that pathetic spineless and useless surrender at spurs to let them of the hook.
I don't trust the club to get the players we desperately need in a number of positions, and i'm sure that moyes would be happy to carry on with the chuckle brothers and still play O'Brien at rb.
We badly need a shake up with the priority being moyes shown the door

I'm near certain we see O'brien starting at RB against Palace.

Hope in wrong.

Feel more and more stupid for thinking he was a changed character when he came back in 24/25

Similar for me. Got better things to do than waste my time and money on the boat and airports, often with trips needing overnight stays now as well just to put myself through watching some of the shite we've been playing.

Only thing keeping me going is that my son still loves it and it's great to spend the time together. I imagine he's not far off wanting to fuck it all off either though

If he comes out with much more like that there’s one thing we will be matching Bournemouth on - attendance figures

Rapidly losing faith that he can turn this around now

Doesn’t matter what he says, it’s what the players do that matters, whatever happens attendances will remain at near capacity.
