Re: Arsenal v Everton

With Brentford 3 down, 15th place should be sewn up.

Not exactly heady heights, but if it's £3m extra per league position, it's all grist to the mill.

That was the only thing I really wanted from today.

Edit: balls, 3-1

Re: VAR and is there a way to fix it?

If you want to argue for argument's sake, fine but please do it with someone else. I was going to say exactly the same thing because you either wilfully misinterpreted my initial point or didn't understand it. Either way, it wasn't controversial or personally offensive in the slightest, so I don't ...

Re: VAR and is there a way to fix it?

"interfering with an opponent" says hi. You can (and should) in theory check automatically whether someone is in an offside position, though not with the methods currently in use. But whether it's an offence very much depends on your intent, i.e. did you try to play the ball or did you, a...

Re: VAR and is there a way to fix it?

There is a huge difference between all those sports and football: a lot of football's rules are based on the concept of intent. This is what makes football so watchable but it's also this that causes applying VAR to those rules a mess. (Well, assuming that VAR is applied well, which in England it i...

Re: VAR and is there a way to fix it?

They have to keep it, just do it better. We've come up with plenty of suggestions to improve it and they're all pretty easily implemented. Common sense, people who understand football, transparency. And rules that are applied consistently. Tennis, rugby and cricket all have better versions. Athletic...

Re: Liverpool being bellends

Reckon they're going to go full John Terry and give him a guard of honour after 2 minutes for the 2 EFL Cups he won with them?

Totally disagree, he’s a natural athlete, who could probably carry on til he’s 40, he was less a liability as the season progressed, not sure what you’ve been watching these last few months. Eh? Did you not see the Forest game? Or the goal we conceded against Luton? He's undoubtedly very fit but I ...

Re: Summer Transfers 2024-25 Season

Not might be, will be and providing he’s taken a cut in wages it’s the right thing to do given our circumstances. Ordinarily, I'd agree. But we don't know he's taken a pay cut and he'll be 252 next season. His legs quite clearly aren't what they used to be and he's become more of a liability as the...

Re: Arsenal v Everton

I don't care enough about who wins the title between Arsenal & Man City to want anything but an Everton win here. I'd want City to win, I think, for the reasons I mentioned above. But, fundamentally, I'm just glad it's not Liverpool. Either way, it certainly doesn't mean I'd want anything other...

Re: Arsenal v Everton

Im mega torn. 1) Arteta isnt arsed one tiny bit about Everton. And that annoys me. 2) A lot of Arsenal fans are complete whoppers. Some of the songs and raps they have done over the years are painful to watch. 3) Arsenal TV is horrendous and embarassing. 4) Thomas Partey is a rapist. But 1) I like ...

Re: Amadou Onana

I think the notion of playing without a midfield because the ball flies over them all the time is a bit of a hyperbole really. We saw when Dyche brought in Gomes that there's a willingness and flexibility to play it on the deck a bit more. Onana reminds me a bit of Rodwell in that I don't think we'r...

Re: Our Captain Seamus Coleman

What a player though. For a large period he was the best in the league in his position and other than Baines we can’t really say that about anyone else in the premier league era. Never seen a right back score the types of goals he scored for us, all at important moments as well. The one at palace i...

Yeah, all about who would make the most likely sacrificial lamb. Southampton and Leeds would be strong for newly-promoted teams, so WBA or Norwich for me.

Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Agree about Watkins, it's crazy there's even a debate on him going or not. Wilson is good but his injury record seems quite poor, so not sure how much football he's had (could be fresh legs, though).

Toney has been shite since coming back, though. I'd absolutely put DCL ahead of him on current form.
